CLASSES

**EXPLORING FAITH? | ALPHA COURSE** note - this class starts at 6.00pm

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions designed to explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, open, and informal environment. Each session looks at a different question of life and faith, and is designed to create conversation.

The course usually runs over 10 weeks and includes three key elements:

  • Food – Sharing a meal or refreshments together to build community.
  • Talk – A short film or talk introducing a topic such as Who is Jesus?, Why and how should I pray?, Does God heal today?
  • Discussion – A chance to share thoughts, ask questions, and explore ideas in a small group, with no pressure and no judgment.

Alpha is for anyone curious about life, faith, or God - whether new to Christianity, returning after some time away, or just exploring. It’s a space to listen, learn, discuss, and discover in a relaxed setting.

**BIBLE STUDY | EPHESIANS

EPHESIANS: From Death to Life

Join our 10-week journey through Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Written to a church learning what it means to live as God’s people, this letter clearly lays out the gospel: that we were once dead in sin, but have been made alive by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It also shows how that truth reshapes every part of our lives.

Ephesians takes us through the foundations of the Christian faith - our salvation by grace, our new identity in Christ, and God’s purpose to unite His people. It then turns to how we are called to live in response: in unity, holiness, love, and spiritual strength.

Across these weeks, we’ll explore what Ephesians teaches about:

  • Salvation by grace, and what grace is
  • Being made alive with Christ, how freedom to sin brings us back to life
  • The truth of being chosen by God to be adopted in LOVE
  • Unity in the body of Christ across all backgrounds
  • Living a life worthy of our calling
  • Turning our back on the old, shining in the new glory given
  • Relationships shaped by Christ (family, marriage, community)
  • The Full Armor of God

Wherever you are in your faith journey, this study is an invitation to understand the core truths of Ephesians more deeply - and to live them out with clarity, confidence, and faith. Together, we’ll walk through what it means to move from death to life in Christ.

**BOOK GROUP | THE FAMILIAR STRANGER**

Over 10 weeks, we will read and chew on Tyler Staton's The Familiar Stranger and practice the ways of familiarizing ourselves with the ways of the Holy Spirit.

Staton is notably a down-to-earth author who is well-versed in the magnitudes of the Spirit of God as well as the harsh disappointments of our experience in Faith. This study will expose and weave together the gaps between the life promised by the Bible and the lives we are living. All by the Mercy of the Holy Spirit!

For many followers of Jesus, the Holy Spirit is a familiar stranger—a rumored figure we know of, but don’t truly know. We believe at Engine House that our God has three forms. The Heavenly Father, the Beloved Son, and the Spirit. All equal and all vast. That being said, we often have a lopsided understanding of who God is, in all of His forms. This will be a safe place where we can learn to hear, feel, and explore the Spirit of God.

Some of the topics being expanded on:

•The relationship between Jesus and the Holy Spirit

• Pentecost and the birth of the Empowered Church

•Common misconceptions about the Holy Spirit

• Our modern society and its social norms are leading away from the Spirit of God

•Learning to recognize, listen, and lean into the Spirit of God.

•Living with an ongoing awareness of The Presence of God

Come and dedicate some time to learning the mysteries of God!

**Workshop | Creativity & The Spirit**

We’re all made to create—this space is designed to help you explore that truth and discover the love of Jesus in fresh and meaningful ways. Rooted in the belief that we are made in God’s image, we’ll journey together through simple, practical creative practices such as guided writing, personal reflection, sketching, journaling, and moments of music and stillness. Each session will offer gentle prompts and space to respond in your own way.

As we slow down and engage with these practices, we may begin to notice what is stirring within us—new thoughts, deeper peace, honest emotions, and a greater awareness of God’s presence. No experience is needed, and no artistic skill is required—just a willingness to show up and take part.

This isn’t about performance or getting it “right”; it’s about discovery, expression, and encountering Jesus through practical, creative moments that help us pause, listen, and respond. A beautiful parallel to our new Sunday teaching series on the Acts of the Holy Spirit.

**WORK CREW**

Alongside a variety of classes designed to help people learn, deepen their faith, and build relationships, there’s something for everyone to engage with in a meaningful way.

For those who prefer a more hands-on way to participate, we also offer the opportunity to invest your time and skills directly into the life of the church. From practical manual work to tech support and behind-the-scenes help, there’s always meaningful work to be done. Calling all helpful folk—this is your chance to roll up your sleeves, give back, and help keep our church running and thriving.

PRAYER AND WORSHIP

At the close of the evening, we gather as a community for free-flow worship and prayer—thanking God, celebrating His goodness, and valuing the gift of seeking His presence together.

frequestly asked questions

  • Can I bring my children

Families are very welcome! While we don’t have childcare during the class time, children are invited to join us for food at 5:30pm.

  • Can I go to more than one class?

To get the full experience and grow together with your group, we ask that you stick to one class for the duration of the term.

This helps everyone build deeper connections and continuity in growing together.

  • When do I need to order dinner?

Ideally, please order by the day before, or at the latest, the morning of the event. Don’t worry if you forget—we’ll still make sure there’s enough to go around! We will take all payments upon arrival, cash or card will do.

  • Do I have to go to the whole evening?

Come and go as you wish - we understand that you may not be able, or may prefer not, to attend the entire evening. Feel free to tailor your time to suit your own schedule and needs!
